Investment Executive
The Role
Barber McLelland is working in partnership with a leading Investment company, that specialises in providing funding to regional SME businesses to support their growth and expansion plans.
The business has a newly created position for an investment executive based within their Sheffield office.
Duties and Responsibilities
The role of Investment Executive is responsible for sourcing, appraising and making investments and loans into regional SMEs.
Supporting the Senior Investment Executive and Fund Director, responsibilities will include:
- Source and appraise suitable investment opportunities across the South Yorkshire region
- Develop and maintain professional contacts and key business introducers to assist in sourcing suitable investment opportunities
- Conduct robust management, financial and commercial due diligence with all potential investment opportunities, along with the assessment of the risks of each investment
- Assess applications for funding and prepare credit reports recommending investment to Fund Manager, investment director or investment committee
- Negotiate terms and conditions relating to legal documentation for all investments
- Assess underlying cashflow assumptions and comment on the risks associated
- Responsible for the creation of covenants and the setting of limits, whilst liaising closely with portfolio teams
- Responsible for the completion of deals as deemed appropriate, ensuring that customer service standards are achieved whilst acting commercially supporting the customer through difficult situations, ensuring timely feedback to appropriate parties
Skills and Qualities
The successful candidate will already have a proven track record working within an investment arena, understanding debt and mezzanine investment in the SME sector, along with an understanding of business issues within the SME market across South Yorkshire.
Additional essential skills –
- Accountancy or banking qualifications
- A strong understanding of risk assessment
- An ability to assess investment proposals and construct balanced investment proposals
- Self-motivated and results-focused with the ability to take a proactive approach and work
- Experience of analysing financial information of analysing financial information
- Understanding of the regional business environment.
It would also be desirable that applicants have an established network of key business introducers.

- Salary circa £50,000 (dependent upon experience)
